Majority of people know that the royal family do not go to the Budhanilkantha temple. But not everyone knows the reason.
During an interview with DC Nepal, the priest of Budhanilkantha temple Swami Nigamananda shares why the royal family do not enter the temple.
According to him, it starts from back in time in Dwapar Yug. A king names Surya Ketu rules the Shivapuri area. As the king got old, he was unable to walk properly so, he prayed to Lord Vishnu that his body is old and he will not be able to come to worship him and he shall end his life in his own town.
Lord Vishnu got very happy with his prayers and told him that he should not worry and he would get blessing from him in his own town the next day. God, ordered Bishwa Karma to make the statue. The statue was made and placed. The king also got aware about it and went to worship. But the king was not satisfied as the structure did not match and started to show his power. God got @ngry and cursed him that he and neither his family shall ever enter the temple premises.
